Bankura, which has been improved over time. The earthy ensembles in dull ochre or red are beautiful caricatures, baked in the sun and burned in mud kilns with dry eucalyptus leaves. The Geographical Indication (GI) designation has been given to terracotta.

Animal and human figurines, as well as useful items, ornaments for the home, and jewellery, are all available from Panchmura in terracotta. At Panchmura, there are about 270 terracotta artisans.
