Since ages, woodcraft has been existent in Bihar. The craft primarily consists of the manufacturing of wooden furniture and toys. Right from the me of Mauryas and particularly from the me of Great Ashoka, the Woodcraft of Bihar has remained high on a scale in terms of artistic beauty, creavity, and durability of items produced. During Ashoka's reign beauful royal throne, royal gates or doors, and panels of temples were manufactured from wood. The Wood Craftsmen are spread across the state. Gaya is the most famous for manufacturing of wooden items such as statues, toys, and household items.
