Akhand Jyot | Moradabad Brass Oil Lamp with Glass Cover, 6 Inch

Akhand Jyot is a 6-inch brass oil lamp with a clear glass chimney, built in Moradabad for the flame that must not go out. The glass keeps draughts and ceiling fans from troubling the wick.

Families keep it burning through Navratri's nine nights or the full Diwali puja; the steady base sits safely on a crowded altar.

One flame, kept for nine nights.

Technique: Brass lamp with glass cover
Care: Wash the glass separately; trim the wick to limit soot

About the craft

Moradabad, known as Peetal Nagri or the "Brass City," has practised metalworking for generations, with techniques passed down through artisan families. Over time its artisans have carried that skill from brass into iron, steel and silver-finish pieces.
