These beautiful handloom sarees come from the Nawada district of Bihar, in which sustainable silk and cotton threads are used to make these pieces exclusive.These are made on the traditional handloom in which shuttles are used.Therefore, it takes 4-5 days to finish one saree or a piece of cloths. More often than not borders or Pallus (end piece of the Saree) is woven separately and attached to the main fabric using some precise techniques. Many a times, the entire family members are involved in the complete process of making the saree, i.e. from yarn to the finished products. Thus, the process of handloom saree making is not only intricate but also a labour -intensive one wherein the skilled artisans who have mastered the craft over generations are involved. Buying these sarees will sure help the artisan’s resolve to preserve his or her skill for future generations,and will honour the hard & labourious work put in by these artisans.
